The School of Education at Cal Poly Humboldt is committed to partnering with the PreK-12 community to continually improve the preparation and support of the prospective and current educators as they achieve their professional and personal goals and adapt to a diverse and ever-changing world. The School of Education includes a variety of credential programs ranging from the Educational Leadership Program to the Secondary Education. The goal for all of the students is that, upon graduation from the programs, they will become exceptional classroom teachers and take on leadership roles within public schools across the state as strong and articulate advocates for children and adolescents and for public education.

Providing every student the best educational opportunities requires all stakeholders involved in the children’s education—administrators, community leaders, counselors, families, funders, psychologists, teachers, and policy makers—to row together in the same direction. To this end, there is a continuing examination of the recruitment and admission review processes; developing the content, pedagogy, and clinical components of the programs; and strengthening support for prospective and current educators to better maximize their students’ chances for success. Candidates are expected to become instructional leaders and decision-makers in the pursuit of excellence, classroom managers and creators of equitable educational opportunities for a diverse student population, and confident scholars who are facilitators for a lifetime of learning.
