Council for Plurilingual Educator Preparation (CPEP)

The CSU Council on Plurilingual Educator Preparation (CPEP) is a community of practice that advocates for equity-centered practices that honor emergent plurilingual students' experiences. CSU is the largest producer of bilingual educators for K-12 schools. Through CPEP, all Bilingual Coordinators are unified under the CSU umbrella. Through its comprehensive teacher education programs, CPEP plays a critical role in addressing the growing need for culturally and linguistically responsive educators who can serve diverse student populations.

CPEP is committed to support and train plurilingual pre-service teacher candidates and in-service credentialed teachers who in turn will guide all emergent plurilingual K-12 students (those developing proficiency in multiple languages) toward academic success and full bilingualism, by promoting educational approaches that honor their cultural and linguistic identities. The website serves as a platform to support this mission, providing educators, researchers, and community stakeholders with access to resources, professional development opportunities, research initiatives, and policy advocacy tools aimed at transforming educational systems to better serve linguistically diverse learners.
