Teacher Preparation

The Teacher Preparation Toolkit provides a repository of resources related to encouraging and inspiring future educators for equity and inclusion - important aspects of educator preparation. Resources can be filtered by category and media type.

Generally, these resources are available at no cost or through a subscription carried by CSU campus libraries.

  • Quality Indicators of Inclusive Early Childhood Programs

    Available resources and indicators of high quality inclusive practices are presented in this compilation. Assembling many different resources in one place allows for easy comparison of potential indicators of quality. Excerpts and adaptations of the resources are intended to provide some familiarity with the content of each resource and encourage further examination via links to more complete information.

  • Schooling for Resilience: Improving the Life Trajectory of Black and Latino Boys

    This books examines how seven schools, created specifically to serve boys of color, set out to address the broad array of academic and social problems faced by Black and Latino boys. Using student and teacher surveys, focus groups, interviews, and classroom observations, the authors describe how the schools were developed, what practices they used, and how their students responded academically and socially.

  • SciGirls: Gender Equitable Teaching Strategies

    The SciGirls  website was built for an NSF grant on Gender Equitable Teaching Strategies at St.Catherine's University. The website includes many resources on gender equity in science and culturally responsive practices. Embedded videos provide role model profiles   of women scientists and presentations on such topics as culturally responsive teaching , explicit gender equity, and more.

  • Social, Emotional, Cultural (SEC) Anchor Competencies Schema

    Combining culturally responsive pedagogy (CRP) and social emotional learning (SEL), this schema is a comprehensive framework for starting to build trusting relationships with students, families and communities. Using the social, emotional, cultural (SEC) schema as standards, along with state standards, adds another dimension to lessons and means much for teaching and learning.
